DESCRIPTION:“The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching.”\n— Aristotle \nThe Body & Flow Comprehensive Mat Program is a complete mat-based Pilates education\, designed to develop confident\, skilled\, and thoughtful teachers.\nThe program includes Mat I\, Mat II\, and the Accessories course\, offering a structured progression from foundational principles to advanced application and creative teaching. \nAcross the program\, students engage in interactive learning\, including practice\, labs\, problem-solving\, role-playing\, and teaching scenarios. The focus is on building a strong technical base while cultivating clear communication\, intelligent progression\, and mindful teaching. \nThroughout the program\, we continuously connect anatomy\, movement principles\, and practical teaching\, supporting adaptable\, safe\, and engaging mat instruction for a wide range of bodies and abilities. \nMat I – Foundations of Teaching and Movement\nMat I lays the foundation for effective and intelligent mat teaching. From the very first fundamental exercises to early intermediate material\, the course focuses on execution\, alignment\, anatomy\, and clear teaching strategies. \nStudents learn not only what to teach\, but how to teach — developing observation skills\, teaching language\, and the ability to guide students safely and progressively. \nIn Mat I we explore:\n\nPilates principles and how to bring them to life in class\nTeaching fundamental and intermediate mat exercises\nSafe and appropriate progression of exercises\nStructuring classes for mixed levels and different settings\nCueing strategies\, hands-on work\, and teaching tools\nPostural assessment and exercise selection\nIdentifying and correcting misalignments and inefficient movement patterns\nTeaching first classes\, group classes\, and varied class formats\n\nMat I supports the development of a creative\, compassionate\, and mindful teacher\, with strong technical grounding and confidence in front of a class. \nMat II – Advanced Mat and Applied Teaching\nThe Advanced Mat Course (Mat II) deepens teaching skills while expanding the mat repertoire with more advanced\, layered\, and creative exercises. \nThis course emphasizes clinical awareness and intelligent adaptation\, allowing teachers to work more confidently with diverse bodies and common movement challenges. \nIn Mat II we explore:\n\nAdvanced mat exercises and progressions\nCreative sequencing and class flow\nDeepening observation and correction skills\nUnderstanding common back-related conditions\, including disc pathologies\nHow spinal conditions may present in movement\nAdapting exercises to support safety\, confidence\, and functional progress\n\nMat II supports teachers in moving beyond choreography into responsive\, informed\, and purposeful teaching. \nAccessories Course – Expanding the Mat Repertoire\nThe Accessories course introduces the powerful role of Pilates props in enhancing movement quality\, accessibility\, and challenge. \nThese tools help deepen body awareness\, refine execution\, support modifications\, and expand creative possibilities within mat classes. \nIn this workshop we explore:\n\nMagic Circle\nFoam Roller\nSmall and Large Ball\nElastic Band\n\nStudents learn how to integrate accessories to: \n\nEnhance strength\, stability\, and mobility\nOffer regressions and progressions for all levels\nAdd variety\, feedback\, and challenge to mat classes\nSupport clearer cueing and improved movement organization\n\nThroughout the entire program\, we introduce additional exercises\, progressions\, and variations to expand movement vocabulary and teaching adaptability. \nThe emphasis is on thoughtful application – connecting anatomy\, movement principles\, and practice to support intelligent\, flexible\, and engaging mat teaching that meets real bodies and real needs. \nCourse Dates: February 7-8\, 18\, 28\, March 1\, 7-8\, 16
